About The Campaign

Who Are We?

We are group of parents, with some local councillors and TD, campaigning for the establishment of an Educate Together Second-Level School in Kildare South.

History

The Campaign was set up in September 2014 due to parental frustration at the lack of choice when looking at Second-Level educational options in the Kildare South region.

As a group of parents we would like:

  1. A welcoming inclusive school that is open to all, irrespective of faith.
  2. A school that is non-fee paying.
  3. A school that is co-educational.
  4. A school that places the emphasis on the learner, nurturing skills in creative & critical thinking, communications, teamwork, research and leadership.
  5. A good quality school that delivers academically and socially.

Many of us have had children in an Educate Together primary school and that very positive experience coupled with limited alternative options has motivated us to try and bring an Educate Together Second-Level school to Kildare South.

This campaign, while originally initiated by Educate Together Parents, is open to all irrespective of where your child goes to primary school.

How Can This Be Achieved?

We need to demonstrate sufficient parental demand for an Educate Together Second-Level school in Kildare South.

Key to this is collecting Expressions of Interest from parents.

I have two daughters attending Newbridge Educate Together National School and would love to see them continue their education in the same environment in an Educate Together Secondary School in the Naas/Newbridge area.

Susan, we the Campaign Group, would also love to see an Educate Together Secondary School in the area. Key to success will be parental demand, so please spread the news of group/website so we can get as many Expression of Interest forms completed by interested parents.

My daughter is in Junior infants in Kildare town and really loves it there. Myself and my husband would love her to continue with educate together for the rest of her school life.

    Hiya,
my little boy is in first class in the Portlaoise Educate, despite my constant nagging at other parents to try and start a campaign for a secondary in Laois, very few seem interested, I know it may seem a bit soon to try and campaign as he is in first class, but i believe these thing take years to establish and would only ever really like to see him attend an Educate together type secondary school, it is the only type of environment he would thrive in. I have put in my interest for him to attend the Kildare South region school but if you have any advice on how to get a campaign up and running in the Laois area would you mind sending me an email. Kind regards Regina.

      Hi Regina.
You are definitely not too soon starting the campaign. My son is in 3rd class, and even if we were successful, it may not even be ready for him to attend. I will send you email. – Jennifer
